At VR Business Brokers of Nashville, our practice in Nashville is bifurcated into "main street" deals (primarily owner-operator businesses generating less than $2 million in sales annually) and "mid-market" deals (firms with significant management infrastructure, broad customer bases, and generating in excess of $2 million dollars in annual revenues).  Over time, our associates have come to focus on specific industries as relationship synergies evolve.

 

We are a success-fee organization, i.e. we charge you a commission only if we conclude a deal.  The fee structure is 10% of the first $1MM in price, 8% of the 2nd $1MM, and 6% of the price above $2MM.  Our typical exclusive period is 12 months. Each client engagement is the responsibility of one principle member of the firm.  That responsibility includes care and feeding of the client relationship, development of a marketing strategy that will be endorsed by the client, and execution of the marketing strategy including communications and collateral support materials development.  Ad hoc teams may be formed within the firm to capitalize on specific skill and knowledges sets.  Coordination and management of all potential acquirors is the responsibility of the principle member although it is not uncommon for a different member of the firm to bring an acquiror to the table as a result of a pre-existing relationship.

 

The owner of the firm, Bren Letson, ensures that the total resources of the firm are allocated so that every client's needs and objectives are met and that the firm maintains high standards of quality and integrity.  As a result, we sell 80% of our listings with prices at or near $1MM or more.  The success rate declines for listings below this price.  We are willing and quite frequently take listings much below $1MM in price.
